Setting up Windows Update rings in Intune is a great way to manage updates and ensure your devices are secure and up to date. Here’s a step-by-step guide with screenshots:
Step 1: Sign in to Microsoft Intune
Open your web browser and go to the Microsoft Endpoint Manager admin center.
Sign in with your administrator account.
Step 2: Navigate to Devices
In the left-hand navigation pane, select Devices.
Step 3: Windows Update Rings
Under Devices, select Windows.
Under Windows, select Windows Update Rings.
Step 4: Create a New Update Ring
Click + Create profile.
Step 5: Configure the Update Ring
In the Basics tab, provide a Name and an optional Description for the update ring.
Click Next.
Step 6: Configure Settings
In the Configuration settings tab, configure the update settings according to your organization's policies. Here are some key settings:
Update settings: Configure update behaviour like the level of user control over updates.
Deferral settings: Set deferral periods for feature and quality updates.
Delivery Optimization: Choose how updates are delivered to devices.
Automatic update behaviour: Specify how updates are installed.
Configure the settings as per your requirements, click Next.
Step 7: Assign the Update Ring
In the Assignments tab, specify the groups that should receive this update ring. You can assign it to All Devices or specific groups.
Click Next.
Step 8: Review and Create
In the Review + create tab, review your settings.
If everything looks correct, click Create.
Step 9: Monitoring and Compliance
After creating the update ring, you can monitor its status under the Monitor section. This allows you to track update compliance and deployment status.
